Gregg Leakes, the husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes, died Wednesday due to colon cancer. He was 66 years old. Longtime family friend Ernest Dukes confirmed news of his death in a statement that read, in part, “The Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene.” The statement went on to say that the family is asking for peace, prayers and privacy as they go through this difficult time. Bravo executive Andy Cohen posted his condolences on social media, saying he is “heartbroken over the passing of Gregg Leakes,” a wonderful man whom he jokingly called “Pastor Leakes.” Cohen also praised Gregg for being a strong voice of reason who commanded great respect among the entire #RHOA team. Fans were able to see much of Gregg’s battle with the disease unfold on the reality show, in which he appeared on for 12 seasons, alongside his wife. Gregg was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. Rest in Heaven, sir. You will be truly missed.

Reality Star and entrepreneur NeNe Leakes is saying goodbye to the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) franchise after 12 years. The rumor mill has been churning for weeks with fans and gossip sites speculating about Leakes’s return to the show. Leakes took to her Youtube channel late Wednesday night and shocked fans with the news that she has ended her contract with RHOA. “I have been on an extremely, extremely long, exhausting tiring emotional negotiation. there has been a lot of emotion flying from both sides. It has been hard but I have made the very hard and difficult decision to not be apart of the real housewives of Atlanta SEASON 13.” Leakes fought back tears and thanked everyone who has been a part of her journey, including the RHOA cast and crew. Following the news, Leakes soon became a trending topic on social media with fans and colleagues, thanking her for her contribution to reality TV. Real Housewives of Atlanta Executive Producer and host of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen, was among the first to respond and pay tribute to Leakes. “She is a gif and catchphrase machine. In 11 years of #WWHL, Nene has been our most frequent guest, and she is always A BLAST,” Cohen wrote via Instagram, “Nene nicknamed me ‘Buttercup’ the first day we met, and still calls me that today. Through her whole run, she has always had a serious concern and drive to maintain the success and well-being of #RHOA.”
