For this very special Women’s History Month feature, we are spotlighting Kween Jean, host of Vibe Check each Sunday from 2-4pm. Let’s hear more about Kween’s journey below!

Q: What inspired you to start your show? What motivates you to continue hosting each week?

Kween: Like many, I grew up listening to the radio and have always appreciated the art form. I’m a big lover of music and as someone with a journalism background, I have always enjoyed learning how to communicate through different media platforms. I’ve always been fascinated with how radio shows were produced so that curiosity inspires me to learn more every day.

Q: What is something your audience would be surprised to learn about you?

Kween: I feel like I’ve been a part of TSU since I was born. Some of my core memories from my childhood include watching the Motion of the Ocean practice in the band hall, participating in the Homecoming parade, and even interning on campus. With parents who have worked at TSU and one who is an alumnus, this university has always been a second home. Although I never continued my academic studies here, I am grateful for everyone apart of the Tiger family who have welcomed me with open arms.

Q: Any closing thoughts/motivation for our readers and listeners?
