The airwaves are about to get a whole lot livelier as The Vibe proudly announces its latest addition to the talk show scene: “Sidechat Vibe Lounge,” hosted by the esteemed Taylor Getwood. Hailing from Port Arthur, TX, Getwood brings a wealth of experience and a contagious energy to his new role as host of “Sidechat” starting Wednesday, June 12th from 12pm-2pm CST.  Getwood’s journey to this new position of radio personality is nothing short of remarkable. Recently appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott as one of the eight student regents for Texas Southern University, Getwood has already left an incredible mark on both his university and his community. His term, effective from June 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025, underscores his commitment to public service and higher education.  Getwood’s passion for leadership and community engagement has been evident from an early age. During his undergraduate years, he distinguished himself as Tex the Tiger, a residential assistant, and a founding member of Brothers United. His crowning achievements include being named Mister Texas Southern University in 2022, a historic moment as the first Mister Texas Southern to also hold the title of Mister HBCU.  With a Bachelor’s degree in Communications specializing in Radio, Television, and Film, Getwood’s trajectory to KTSU’s airwaves was written in the stars. His journey began in Donna Franklin’s “Voice and Diction” class, where his talent and charisma positioned him as a standout talent.  “I’m ready to put into action everything I’ve worked for,” declares Getwood, emphasizing his eagerness to leverage his acting and singing talents on “Sidechat.” As a member of the “Black Boys Cry” stage play and a recognized singer across Texas, Getwood plans to infuse the show with his unique blend of entertainment and insight.  For Getwood, “Sidechat” represents an opportunity to serve the TSU student body and amplify their voices. He aims to educate, inspire, and entertain listeners while fostering unity within the HBCU community and beyond. “The only difference is our zip codes,” he reflects, acknowledging the shared challenges faced by HBCUs nationwide.  As “Sidechat” prepares to hit the airwaves on June 12th, Getwood’s vision for the show is clear: to leave a remarkable imprint on radio by creating meaningful connections and empowering conversation. Through his blend of professional media training and innate talent for community building, Getwood is poised to make “Sidechat” a must-listen experience for audiences near and far.  Join us in welcoming Taylor Getwood to The Vibe family, where together, we’ll elevate the way you radio!  For more updates, download The Vibe app and catch “Sidechat Vibe Lounge on Wednesdays from 12pm-2pm CST.”
