The Vibe Celebrates Four Years of Soundtracking Houston’s Culture

On Wednesday, September 4th, The Vibe celebrated its fourth anniversary with a vibrant party at The Savoy. The station’s on-air hosts, listeners, Underwriters, KTSU leadership, and neighboring HBCU radio colleagues came together to commemorate four years of being the soundtrack to Houston’s culture.
To mark the special occasion, The Savoy honored The Vibe with a reserved section, custom Vibe cocktails, complimentary champagne, and delicious birthday cake for all attendees. The party was a celebration of the station’s growth and impact on the community.
In March 2024, The Vibe welcomed radio trailblazer, Marcus Sullivan, who spearheaded the “All new Vibe” campaign and programming revamp. Under Sullivan’s visionary leadership, the station launched seven new programs, including the highly acclaimed “Side Chat Vibe Lounge” Talk Show hosted by TSU Student Regent, former Mr. TSU & Mr. HBCU, Taylor Getwood.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our listeners, partners, and the larger KTSU team for the unwavering support over the past four years,” said Sullivan. “This celebration is a testament to the power of music and community.”
Founded in 2020 as part of a national initiative by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, The Vibe has quickly become a beloved Urban Alternative radio station in Houston. Broadcasting on KTSU-2 HD, The Vibe App, and from 8pm-12midnight on KTSU 90.9FM, the station serves Hip-Hop and R&B listeners throughout the area and beyond.
As The Vibe continues to evolve and grow, the station remains committed to providing its listeners with the best in Urban Alternative music and programming.
